Job Description

We are seeking a friendly, professional, and highly organized City Hall Receptionist / Greeter to be the first point of contact for visitors and callers to our administrative offices in Ohio City. This crucial public-facing role requires excellent communication skills, a welcoming demeanor, and the ability to manage a busy front desk efficiently. You will play a vital role in ensuring a positive experience for all members of the public seeking assistance or information from the City of Cleveland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome all visitors to City Hall with a professional and friendly attitude.
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls promptly and courteously.
  • Provide accurate information and assistance to the public regarding city services and departments.
  • Manage visitor sign-in procedures and issue visitor badges as required.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and deliveries.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized reception area.
  • Schedule appointments and manage conference room bookings.
  • Assist various departments with administrative tasks as needed.
  • Resolve basic inquiries and direct complex issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Uphold a high standard of professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a receptionist, administrative assistant, or customer service role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, welcoming attitude.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Experience working in a government or public service setting.
  • Familiarity with local Cleveland community and city services.
  • Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) is a plus.
