Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and analytically-minded individual to join our Pricing & Promotion Analytics team as an Intern. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring data professional to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced retail environment. You will support the team in analyzing vast datasets related to product pricing, promotional effectiveness, and customer behavior. This role is designed to provide comprehensive exposure to the strategies and tools used to optimize retail performance, offering valuable insights into the commercial side of a major supermarket chain. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal role for candidates with strong analytical skills and a desire to learn, even without prior professional experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the collection, cleaning, and validation of pricing and promotion data from various sources.
- Support the analytics team in generating regular reports and dashboards on key performance indicators.
- Perform preliminary analysis of pricing data to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive dynamics.
- Contribute to post-promotion analysis, evaluating the effectiveness and ROI of marketing campaigns.
- Learn and utilize internal analytical tools and software to extract and interpret data.
- Prepare clear and concise presentations of findings for internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including commercial and marketing, to understand business requirements.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, basic formulas).
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn new tools and concepts quickly.
- A genuine interest in the retail industry and data-driven decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Basic understanding of SQL or other programming languages for data manipulation (e.g., Python, R).
- Previous academic project experience involving data analysis.
