Job Description
We are seeking a talented and innovative Automotive Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in Campbell River, BC. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate engineer to contribute to the design and development of cutting-edge automotive components and systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of automotive engineering principles, CAD software proficiency, and a commitment to quality and innovation. Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed designs for automotive components and systems using CAD software.
- Perform engineering calculations and simulations to validate design integrity and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and supply chain.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations.
- Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Ensure designs meet specified requirements, safety standards, and cost targets.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in automotive design.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Strong understanding of automotive design principles and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of materials science relevant to automotive applications.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software.
- Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Previous experience in the automotive industry, particularly with design for manufacturing.
- P.Eng. designation or eligibility.
