Job Description

Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Trainee Bus Drivers. This is an incredible opportunity for someone with no prior bus driving experience, as we provide comprehensive, fully paid training to help you obtain your Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) licence. If you have a passion for people, a commitment to safety, and a desire to serve your community, we want to hear from you. We invest in our trainees, ensuring you have all the skills and certifications needed to become a professional bus operator. Upon successful completion of training and obtaining your PCV licence, you will transition into a full-time Bus Operator role.
Key Responsibilities
- Successfully complete all required training modules, both classroom and in-vehicle.
- Learn and adhere to all traffic laws, HSR policies, and safety regulations.
- Operate HSR buses safely and efficiently on assigned routes.
- Provide excellent customer service to all passengers, including assistance with boarding and alighting.
- Collect fares, issue transfers, and provide accurate information regarding routes and schedules.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles.
- Report any mechanical issues, accidents, or incidents promptly.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance.
- Work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Required Skills
- Minimum G class driver’s licence with a clean driving record (no more than 3 demerit points).
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal record check.
- Ability to successfully pass a medical examination and drug/alcohol screening.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong commitment to safety and customer service.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
- Familiarity with the Hamilton area and its road network.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
