Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Art & Design Teacher to join our dynamic faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive art and design education to students across various grade levels, fostering their artistic talents and critical thinking skills. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement creative and stimulating art and design curricula aligned with educational standards.
- Deliver high-quality instruction in various artistic mediums and design principles, including drawing, painting, sculpture, digital art, and graphic design.
- Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback and maintaining accurate records.
- Organize and oversee art exhibitions, showcases, and other school-wide art-related events.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate art and design across other subject areas.
- Maintain a safe, inspiring, and well-organized art classroom and studio environment.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and school community activities.
- Mentor students and encourage their individual artistic expression and growth.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching Art & Design at the K-12 level.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating personal artistic abilities and design proficiency.
- Proficiency in various art mediums and techniques.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Art Education or a related discipline.
- Valid provincial teaching certification (or eligibility for certification in British Columbia).
- Experience with digital art software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
- Experience teaching international students or in an international school setting.
- Knowledge of contemporary art trends and design methodologies.
