Job Description
Are you a highly skilled and customer-focused driver with a passion for people and places? FirstGroup Plc is seeking a dedicated Tour Bus Driver to join our team in Norwich. In this role, you will be responsible for safely transporting passengers on planned tours, showcasing the beauty and attractions of Norwich, Norfolk, and potentially wider regions. You will be the face of our tours, providing an excellent experience through safe driving, clear communication, and helpful customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a tour bus in accordance with all traffic laws and company policies.
- Adhere to planned tour schedules and itineraries, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
- Provide clear and concise commentary on points of interest during tours, enhancing the passenger experience.
- Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, including those with special needs or mobility challenges.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and safety.
- Maintain a clean and tidy bus interior and exterior.
- Handle passenger inquiries, provide information, and resolve minor issues professionally.
- Collect fares or check tickets as required.
- Complete necessary paperwork and reports accurately.
- Ensure the comfort and safety of all passengers throughout the journey.
Required Skills
- Valid UK PCV (Passenger Carrying Vehicle) driving license (Category D)
- Driver CPC qualification
- Clean driving record with no major endorsements
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Strong geographical knowledge of Norwich and surrounding Norfolk area
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanour
- Commitment to passenger safety and comfort
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a tour bus driver or coach driver
- Proficiency in additional languages
- First Aid certification
- Basic mechanical knowledge to identify and report vehicle issues
