Job Description
Aecon Group Inc. is seeking experienced and certified Crane Operators to join our dynamic team on various construction projects in and around Sydney, Nova Scotia. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled professionals looking to advance their careers with a leading Canadian company. As a Crane Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating various types of cranes to lift, move, and position materials and equipment on construction sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate various types of cranes, including mobile, tower, or overhead cranes, in accordance with safety regulations and operational procedures.
- Perform daily pre-operation checks and routine maintenance on crane equipment.
- Inspect rigging and lifting gear to ensure it is in good working condition and suitable for the load.
- Communicate effectively with ground crew, signal persons, and supervisors via hand signals or radio.
- Monitor load charts and environmental conditions to ensure safe lifting operations.
- Position loads accurately and safely, avoiding obstructions and hazards.
- Maintain accurate logbooks and report any equipment malfunctions or safety incidents.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and provincial safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience as a Crane Operator.
- Valid provincial Crane Operator certification (e.g., Nova Scotia Crane Operator Certification).
- Proven ability to operate various types of cranes safely and efficiently.
- Strong understanding of load charts, rigging techniques, and safe lifting practices.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination, depth perception, and spatial awareness.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly.
- Commitment to upholding the highest safety standards.
- Valid driver's license with a clean abstract.
Preferred Qualifications
- Heavy Equipment Operator certification or relevant trade qualification.
- Experience with specific crane types (e.g., lattice boom, rough terrain).
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor maintenance and troubleshooting.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
