Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Neurology Specialist to join our dynamic team within the Fraser Health Authority, specifically serving the vibrant community of Abbotsford, BC. This unique opportunity includes international sponsorship for qualified candidates looking to bring their expertise to Canada. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive neurological care, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide array of neurological conditions, contributing to the health and well-being of our diverse patient population. You will work in a collaborative environment, engaging with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management for patients with neurological disorders.
  • Conduct thorough neurological examinations and interpret diagnostic tests such as EEGs, EMGs, MRIs, and CT scans.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication management, lifestyle modifications, and referrals to other specialists.
  • Participate in on-call rotation schedules for neurological emergencies.
  • Collaborate effectively with primary care physicians, neurosurgeons, rehabilitation therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Educate patients and their families about neurological conditions, treatment options, and disease progression.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records in accordance with institutional policies and provincial regulations.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and participate in relevant clinical meetings and conferences.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and clinical research endeavors within the neurology department.

Required Skills

  • Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
  • Specialty training in Neurology (FRCPC or equivalent international certification).
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
  • Excellent clinical diagnostic and therapeutic skills in neurology.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and ethical medical practice.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an academic or large community hospital setting.
  • Subspecialty interest or fellowship training in a specific area of neurology (e.g., stroke, epilepsy, movement disorders).
  • Experience with electronic health record systems.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system.
