Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Tax Manager/Director to join our growing Tax & Legal practice in Calgary. This pivotal role involves providing expert tax advice and compliance services to a diverse portfolio of clients, with a strong focus on international tax matters. You will be instrumental in leading client engagements, managing teams, and contributing to business development initiatives. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complex tax engagements, including corporate tax compliance, international tax planning, and advisory services.
  • Provide strategic tax advice to clients on cross-border transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring.
  • Develop and mentor junior tax professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, identifying opportunities for expanded services.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of corporate income tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant tax legislation.
  • Represent clients during tax audits and disputes with tax authorities.
  • Stay abreast of changes in Canadian and international tax laws and regulations, assessing their impact on clients.

Required Skills

  • CPA, CA, or equivalent professional accounting designation.
  • Minimum of 72 months (6 years) of progressive experience in corporate tax, with significant exposure to international tax.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian tax legislation and international tax principles (e.g., transfer pricing, treaty interpretation).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements and lead project teams effectively.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex tax concepts clearly.
  • Proficiency with tax software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Taxation (MTax) or a related field.
  • Experience with tax technology solutions and process improvements.
  • Fluency in a second language relevant to international business (e.g., Mandarin, Spanish, French).
  • Previous experience working with a Big 4 or large professional services firm.
