Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals for a Work Experience placement within our dynamic civil engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for students or aspiring engineers with little to no prior experience to gain practical, hands-on exposure to real-world civil engineering projects in the unique environment of the Kalgoorlie-Boulder region. You will work alongside experienced professionals, learn industry best practices, and contribute to various project phases, laying a strong foundation for your future career in civil engineering. Full training and mentorship will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist civil engineers and project managers with on-site inspections and data collection.
- Support the preparation of project documentation, reports, and presentations.
- Learn to interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Conduct basic research related to project requirements, materials, and regulations.
- Assist with the compilation of tender documents and project proposals.
- Contribute to team meetings and site briefings, taking notes and learning about project progress.
- Observe and understand various stages of civil construction and infrastructure development.
- Perform general administrative tasks to support project teams.
Required Skills
- Strong willingness to learn and a proactive attitude.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving aptitude.
- A keen interest in civil engineering and the resources sector.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree or diploma program in Civil Engineering.
- Basic understanding of CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) concepts.
- Valid Western Australian driver's license.
- Prior exposure to construction sites or engineering environments (e.g., school projects, part-time work).
