Job Description
We are immediately seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Public Hospital Porters / Orderlies. In this vital on-site role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital, supporting patient care by transporting patients, equipment, and supplies. Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients via wheelchairs, gurneys, or beds to various departments (e.g., imaging, surgery, admissions, discharge) while maintaining patient comfort and dignity.
- Efficiently move medical equipment, supplies, specimens, and patient belongings throughout the hospital.
- Assist nursing staff with patient transfers and repositioning as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of transport equipment, reporting any malfunctions promptly.
- Respond quickly to transport requests and prioritize tasks effectively to support hospital flow.
- Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control standards.
- Provide empathetic and professional communication with patients, visitors, and staff at all times.
Required Skills
- Ability to push, pull, lift, and maneuver heavy objects and patients safely.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and colleagues.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic, with a commitment to punctuality.
- Basic understanding of hygiene and safety protocols in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to work effectively and remain calm in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service or patient-facing role.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
- CPR certification.
