Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Engineer (Qualified) to join our dynamic team, focusing on coastal roles within the Werribee and wider Victorian coastal regions. This pivotal role involves providing expert engineering support for various maritime projects, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of vessels and marine installations. The successful candidate will be instrumental in conducting inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs, contributing significantly to the reliability and longevity of our clients’ assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on marine engines, auxiliary machinery, and hull systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults in marine equipment.
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with relevant maritime regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, maintenance logs, and documentation for all work performed.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other engineering teams to plan and execute coastal projects.
  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of new marine equipment and systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and maintenance staff.
  • Participate in emergency response and breakdown support as required.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience as a Marine Engineer, preferably in coastal or near-shore operations.
  • Strong understanding of marine propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in diagnostic tools and techniques for marine equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of maritime safety regulations (e.g., AMSA, IMO standards).
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in diverse environments.
  • Valid Australian driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master Class 1 Marine Engineer Certificate of Competency (CoC) or equivalent.
  • Experience with vessel management systems (VMS) and planned maintenance systems (PMS).
  • Project management experience in a maritime context.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
