Job Description
We are excited to offer an enriching internship opportunity for an Interior Design Intern to join our vibrant Residential & Commercial Studio in Cairns. This entry-level position is perfect for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for interior design who is eager to learn and grow within a professional studio environment. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience by supporting our senior designers on a diverse range of projects, from luxury homes to commercial developments. Full training and mentorship will be provided, ensuring you develop a strong foundation in design principles and practical application.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior designers with all phases of the design process, from concept development to project completion.
- Prepare design presentations, mood boards, and material sample boards.
- Support in the selection of furniture, fixtures, equipment (FF&E), and finishes.
- Create and modify design drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD, SketchUp).
- Conduct research on new materials, trends, and product specifications.
- Participate in client meetings, site visits, and supplier presentations.
- Organize and maintain the design library and material samples.
- Perform administrative tasks to support the design team as needed.
Required Skills
- Basic proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Eagerness to learn, proactive attitude, and ability to take initiative.
- A genuine passion for interior design and an eye for aesthetics.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Diploma program in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- A portfolio showcasing academic or personal design projects (student work is highly encouraged).
- Possession of a valid Australian driver's license.
