Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically fit Cleanup Laborer to join our team, working on-site at an olive oil processing facility in Colchester, Essex. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals looking for immediate start and who are comfortable working in an industrial environment, including areas that may be wet and slippery. Full training on all cleaning protocols, safety procedures, and equipment operation will be provided. Your primary role will be to ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of the olive oil press and surrounding production areas, contributing to a safe and efficient operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Thorough cleaning and sanitization of olive oil presses, tanks, and production machinery.
- Sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing floors, paying particular attention to slippery surfaces.
- Disposing of waste materials and by-products in accordance with facility guidelines.
- Operating cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
- Adhering strictly to health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Assisting with general site upkeep and maintenance as required.
- Reporting any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Good physical stamina and ability to lift moderately heavy items (up to 25kg).
- Comfortable working in a wet, potentially slippery, and industrial environment.
- A strong work ethic and a proactive approach to tasks.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Reliable and punctual.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an industrial cleaning or food production environment is a plus, but not essential.
- Basic understanding of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations.
