Job Description
Join GrainCorp as a Silo Operator Assistant for a regional seasonal work opportunity based near Cairns, Queensland. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals seeking hands-on experience in the agricultural sector, particularly during harvest seasons. As an Assistant, you will play a vital role in the efficient operation of our grain receival and storage facilities, ensuring the smooth flow of produce from farm to market. Full training will be provided to successful candidates, making this an excellent stepping stone into a rewarding career in agribusiness. This role requires physical fitness, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the receival, sampling, and dispatch of various grain commodities.
- Operate basic grain handling equipment and machinery under supervision, including conveyors and weighbridges.
- Conduct daily visual inspections of grain quality and facility condition.
- Perform general site maintenance and cleaning duties to ensure a safe and tidy work environment.
- Adhere strictly to all safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Support the Silo Operator in monitoring grain levels and managing storage capacity.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive and productive work culture.
