Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Drama / Theater Arts Teacher to join our esteemed faculty. This full-time position involves developing and delivering engaging theater arts curriculum to students across various age groups, from middle school to high school. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dramatic theory, performance, and production, with a commitment to creating an inspiring and supportive learning environment. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive drama and theater arts curricula.
- Direct and produce school plays, musicals, and theatrical performances.
- Teach a range of drama techniques, including acting, improvisation, stagecraft, and theater history.
- Mentor and guide students in their artistic development and performance skills.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with other faculty members on interdisciplinary projects and school events.
- Manage theater equipment, props, costumes, and rehearsal spaces.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom and rehearsal environment.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school community activities.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Drama, Theater Arts, Education, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching drama or directing theatrical productions.
- Strong knowledge of various acting methodologies and theater practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency in English.
- Eligibility for provincial teaching certification in British Columbia (support provided for international applicants).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Theater Arts or Education.
- Experience with stage design, lighting, sound, or costume design.
- Fluency in additional languages.
- Experience working with international student populations.
- Portfolio of previous directorial or performance work.
