Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Drama / Theater Arts Teacher to inspire students at our high school level. This is a full-time, on-site position for a dedicated educator who can ignite a passion for theatre in our students. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing engaging drama curriculum, directing school productions, and fostering a creative and collaborative learning environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging drama and theatre arts curriculum for high school students.
  • Direct and produce school plays, musicals, and other theatrical performances.
  • Teach various aspects of theatre, including acting, stagecraft, directing, playwriting, and theatre history.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom and rehearsal environment.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with other arts department faculty and school staff.
  • Manage theatre equipment, resources, and budgets for productions.
  • Participate in school and district professional development opportunities.
  • Supervise students during rehearsals, performances, and related activities.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Drama, Theatre Arts, Education with a Drama emphasis, or a related field.
  • Eligibility for Montana teaching certification in Drama/Theatre Arts (or willingness to obtain).
  • Demonstrated experience in acting, directing, or stagecraft.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Effective classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in various theatre techniques and styles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Drama, Theatre Arts, or Arts Education.
  • Prior experience teaching drama at the secondary level (can include international experience).
  • Experience with costume design, lighting, sound, or set construction.
  • Familiarity with diverse theatrical traditions and contemporary theatre practices.
  • Experience working with international students or in a culturally diverse setting.
