Job Description

State Farm in Gary, Indiana, is seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as an Insurance Claims Adjuster Trainee. This is a desk-based role perfect for those with no prior experience in claims, as we provide comprehensive, full training from day one. You will learn the fundamentals of claims adjusting, develop essential communication skills, and become proficient in our claims processes. Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in a structured training program to learn claims adjusting principles and procedures.
- Review and document new insurance claims received through various channels.
- Communicate professionally with policyholders, claimants, and other parties via phone and email to gather information and explain processes.
- Assist in collecting necessary documentation, such as repair estimates, police reports, and medical records.
- Accurately enter and maintain claims data in our claims management system.
- Follow established guidelines and company policies to ensure fair and consistent claim handling.
- Collaborate with senior adjusters and team members to resolve inquiries and challenges.
- Develop a foundational understanding of insurance policies, coverages, and state regulations.
- Continuously engage in learning and professional development opportunities.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong active listening skills and empathy.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new information and systems.
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook).

- No prior insurance or claims experience is required; full training provided.
