Job Description
Join the Sylvan Learning Center team in Miami as an After School Tutor! We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to provide personalized academic support to students in various subjects. This part-time position focuses on afternoon hours, making a significant impact on students’ understanding and confidence. You will work with students in small groups or one-on-one settings, implementing Sylvan’s proven instructional methods to help them grasp challenging concepts, complete homework, and prepare for tests. Key Responsibilities
- Provide personalized, instruction to students in elementary, middle, and high school in subjects such as reading, writing, math, and study skills.
- Implement Sylvan Learning Center's curriculum and instructional methods effectively.
- Create a positive and engaging learning environment for students.
- Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with center directors and parents regarding student performance.
- Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor with students, parents, and staff.
- Support students with homework completion and test preparation.
- Adhere to Sylvan's safety and operational policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Strong subject matter knowledge in at least one core area (Math, Reading, Writing).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students of diverse ages and learning abilities.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
- Proven ability to motivate and engage students.
- Reliable and punctual, especially for afternoon shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, a related field, or currently pursuing one.
- Prior experience in tutoring, teaching, or mentoring students.
- Familiarity with various teaching methodologies and learning styles.
- Certification or licensure in a relevant subject area.
