Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Sawmill Production Lead to oversee operations at our busy Bristol facility. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth, efficient, and safe processing of timber from raw logs to finished products. The successful candidate will lead a team, optimize production schedules, maintain quality standards, and implement continuous improvement initiatives within a heavy industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a team of sawmill operators and production staff.
  • Oversee daily sawmill operations, ensuring production targets are met efficiently and safely.
  • Monitor and adjust production schedules to optimize output and minimize downtime.
  • Implement and enforce all health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct quality control checks on raw materials and finished timber products.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and coordinate with maintenance for equipment repairs.
  • Train new staff and provide ongoing coaching and development to the team.
  • Maintain accurate production records and generate performance reports.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in sawmill operations or a heavy industrial production environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent understanding of timber processing equipment and techniques.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards in an industrial setting.
