Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Crane Operations Lead to join our team in Rockingham, Western Australia. This pivotal role involves overseeing and managing all crane operations for major infrastructure projects, ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and project delivery. You will be responsible for leading a team of crane operators and riggers, planning complex lifts, and maintaining strict compliance with all industry regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise all lifting operations on major infrastructure project sites.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and company policies for all crane and rigging activities.
- Conduct pre-lift meetings, risk assessments, and develop lift plans for complex and critical lifts.
- Lead, mentor, and train crane operators and rigging teams, fostering a culture of safety and operational excellence.
- Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and certification of all crane equipment and lifting gear.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of crane operations into the overall project schedule.
- Manage resource allocation for crane personnel and equipment effectively.
- Investigate and report on any incidents or near-misses related to lifting operations, implementing corrective actions.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy lift crane operations and supervision on large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Current relevant High-Risk Work Licences (e.g., C6, CN, CP, Dogging, Basic/Intermediate/Advanced Rigging).
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
- Exceptional knowledge of Australian Standards and relevant OHS/WHS legislation concerning lifting operations.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, lift plans, and load charts.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proven track record of managing safety in high-pressure environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Advanced rigging qualifications or equivalent.
- Experience with various types of cranes, including mobile, crawler, and tower cranes.
- Formal training in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Proficiency in project management software and relevant industry applications.
