Job Description
We are seeking a motivated Environmental Impact Research Assistant to join our dynamic team in Baltimore, MD. This role involves a blend of office-based research and fieldwork, supporting senior environmental scientists and project managers on a variety of environmental impact assessments, permitting, and compliance projects. The successful candidate will contribute to data collection, analysis, report preparation, and fieldwork activities related to ecological surveys, wetland delineations, and environmental monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with literature reviews, data collection, and analysis for environmental impact assessments and reports.
- Participate in fieldwork activities, including wetland delineations, habitat assessments, species surveys, and water quality sampling.
- Prepare maps, figures, and other graphical representations using GIS software.
- Contribute to the drafting of technical reports, permit applications, and other project deliverables.
- Organize and maintain project documentation, data, and field notes.
- Ensure compliance with project specific health and safety protocols during all field activities.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and external stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Geography, or a related field.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting processes (e.g., NEPA, Clean Water Act).
- Basic experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS) for data visualization and analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel for field assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship or academic project experience in environmental consulting or research.
- Experience with field data collection techniques and equipment.
- Knowledge of local flora and fauna of the Mid-Atlantic region.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
- Experience with GPS devices for fieldwork.
