Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Acoustic Engineer to join our dynamic team in York. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual with a passion for acoustics to contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects, ranging from building acoustics to environmental noise impact assessments for major infrastructure developments. This role is open to international candidates, and Ramboll is prepared to offer international sponsorship for suitable applicants who meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa. You will be responsible for undertaking a variety of acoustic consultancy tasks, including noise and vibration assessments, measurements, modelling, and comprehensive report writing. We are looking for a professional with a strong technical background, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct noise and vibration surveys and measurements on site, adhering to health and safety protocols.
  • Perform acoustic modelling and analysis using specialist software such as CadnaA, Odeon, or SoundPLAN.
  • Interpret and apply national and international acoustic standards, guidelines, and legislation.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, proposals, and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams on large-scale engineering and environmental projects.
  • Provide expert technical advice and support to project managers, clients, and internal teams.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of noise control strategies and mitigation measures.
  • Contribute to bid proposals, project scoping, and business development activities.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field with a strong acoustic component.
  • Minimum of 2 years of demonstrable professional experience in acoustic consultancy or a relevant industry role.
  • Proficiency with acoustic measurement equipment (e.g., sound level meters, accelerometers) and data analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity and practical experience with acoustic modelling software.
  • Strong understanding of relevant UK and international acoustic regulations, guidance, and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and client interaction.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Eligibility for international sponsorship/Skilled Worker visa in the UK.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Membership with the Institute of Acoustics (IoA) or actively working towards professional accreditation.
  • Specialised experience in specific sectors such as building acoustics, environmental noise, industrial noise control, or architectural acoustics.
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for advanced data processing and automation.
  • Full UK driving licence or equivalent for site visits.
