Job Description

SNC-Lavalin is seeking a skilled Acoustical Consultant to join our team in Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador. This role involves conducting noise and vibration assessments, developing acoustical design solutions, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards across diverse projects. We offer Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) for eligible international candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive noise and vibration surveys, measurements, and assessments for various projects.
  • Develop acoustical design recommendations and strategies for architectural, environmental, and industrial applications.
  • Utilize advanced acoustical modeling software (e.g., CadnaA, Odeon, SoundPLAN) for analysis and prediction.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and design specifications.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers.
  • Ensure all projects comply with local, provincial, and national acoustical standards and regulations.
  • Participate in client meetings, project discussions, and stakeholder consultations.
  • Contribute to business development activities, proposal writing, and client relationship management.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff as required.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with acoustical measurement equipment and data acquisition techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Solid understanding of fundamental noise and vibration principles, propagation, and control.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Acoustics or a related specialized discipline.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in acoustical consulting, engineering, or research.
  • Proven experience with specific acoustical modeling software such as CadnaA, SoundPLAN, Odeon, or ANSYS.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license or eligibility for immediate registration with an engineering association in Canada.
  • Familiarity with Canadian acoustical standards, guidelines, and environmental regulations.
  • Experience in specific acoustical areas such as building acoustics, environmental noise impact assessments, industrial noise control, or vibration isolation.
