Job Description

Gascoyne Home Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Appliance Technician specializing in Whitegoods to join our growing team in Carnarvon, WA. As a key member of our service department, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of domestic whitegoods, including refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, and ovens. This role requires excellent technical acumen, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to exceptional customer service. You will work independently and as part of a supportive team, ensuring our customers receive prompt and efficient service within their homes or at our workshop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose faults and perform complex repairs on various whitegood appliances (e.g., refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, ovens).
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and service checks to extend appliance lifespan.
  • Order, manage, and track parts inventory required for repairs.
  • Provide clear, concise explanations of issues and proposed solutions to customers.
  • Complete detailed job sheets and service reports accurately and efficiently.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety standards, regulations, and company procedures.
  • Maintain a consistently high level of customer satisfaction through professional service.
  • Manage and optimize service calls and routes for efficiency and punctuality.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians or apprentices when needed.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as an Appliance Technician, specifically with whitegoods.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities for electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Proficiency with a variety of hand and power tools relevant to appliance repair.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for customer interaction.
  • Valid Australian Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Sound understanding of electrical and mechanical systems within domestic appliances.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a daily workload effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant trade qualification or certification in appliance repair or electrical trades.
  • Refrigerant Handling License (ARC Tick) for refrigerator and freezer repair.
  • Experience with a wide variety of major appliance brands and models.
  • Basic IT skills for modern appliance diagnostics and software updates.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
