Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to fill the dual role of Athletic Director and Head Coach at our Edmundston campus. This pivotal position involves overseeing all aspects of the campus’s athletic programs while also taking on a direct coaching role for a primary sport (to be determined based on candidate expertise and program needs). A key component of this role is fostering and managing international sponsorships and ensuring the successful integration and support of our international student-athletes. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader, an effective coach, and a skilled administrator with a commitment to student success and community involvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive athletic programs that align with the university's mission and values.
- Serve as Head Coach for a designated sport, including recruiting, training, and mentoring student-athletes.
- Manage the athletic department budget, including resource allocation, financial planning, and fundraising initiatives.
- Oversee compliance with all university, conference, and national athletic association regulations.
- Recruit, supervise, and evaluate part-time coaches and athletic staff.
- Develop and maintain relationships with international sporting organizations, educational institutions, and sponsors.
- Facilitate the integration and academic support for international student-athletes, ensuring their well-being and success.
- Coordinate game schedules, travel arrangements, and facility usage for all athletic teams.
- Promote student-athlete welfare, academic achievement, and ethical conduct.
- Represent the university at athletic conferences, meetings, and community events.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in athletic program management and administration.
- Demonstrated coaching experience, preferably at the post-secondary level.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including international students.
- Knowledge of athletic regulations and compliance standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in budget management and financial oversight.
- Fluency in English (verbal and written).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Education, Kinesiology, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Certification in coaching from a recognized national or international body.
- Experience working with international student-athlete programs or initiatives.
- Bilingualism (French and English) is a significant asset.
- Experience in fundraising and securing sponsorships.
