Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Athletic Director / Head Coach to lead our sports programs in New Braunfels, with a special focus on developing and integrating international sponsorship initiatives. This pivotal role involves overseeing all athletic activities, coaching a primary sport (e.g., basketball, soccer, volleyball), and actively managing relationships that support international athletic development and participation. The ideal candidate will be a passionate leader, an exceptional coach, and a skilled administrator capable of inspiring athletes, mentoring staff, and fostering global connections within our local community.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive athletic programs for youth and adults.
- Serve as Head Coach for a designated sport, providing expert instruction, strategy, and mentorship.
- Recruit, train, and supervise coaching staff and volunteers, ensuring high standards of instruction and safety.
- Manage budgets, equipment, and facilities related to athletic programs.
- Develop and nurture relationships with international sponsors and partners to facilitate global athletic opportunities and exchanges.
- Coordinate international student-athlete integration and support services within YMCA programs.
- Ensure compliance with all YMCA policies, safety regulations, and relevant sports governing bodies.
- Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy competition among all participants.
- Organize and execute tournaments, events, and community outreach initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as needed for continuous improvement.
Required Skills
- Proven leadership and organizational skills in an athletic setting
- Expert coaching ability in a specific sport (e.g., basketball, soccer, volleyball)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for diverse audiences
- Experience with program development and implementation
- Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain quickly)
- Proficiency in basic office software (Microsoft Office Suite)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Education, Kinesiology, or a related field
- Experience managing international programs or sponsorships
- Fluency in a second language relevant to international partnerships (e.g., Spanish, German)
- Experience working with diverse age groups and skill levels
- Knowledge of local and international sports organizations and networks
