Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Audit Manager to join our dynamic team in Coventry. As an Audit Manager, you will play a crucial role in leading audit engagements, managing client relationships, and developing our junior staff. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of clients across various sectors, contributing to their success and maintaining the highest standards of audit quality. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire audit process from planning to completion, ensuring compliance with professional standards and regulatory requirements. This role demands strong technical knowledge, exceptional leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering outstanding client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a portfolio of audit engagements from planning through to completion, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, acting as a primary point of contact and trusted advisor.
- Review audit work papers and financial statements to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with IFRS/UK GAAP and other relevant standards.
- Identify and resolve complex accounting and auditing issues, providing expert guidance to both clients and team members.
- Mentor, coach, and develop junior audit staff, providing constructive feedback and fostering a learning environment.
- Manage engagement profitability, including fee negotiation and billing.
- Proactively identify business development opportunities and contribute to proposal writing and presentations.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, technical developments, and regulatory changes relevant to audit practice.
Required Skills
- ACCA, ACA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in external audit within a public accounting firm
- Proven experience in leading and managing audit engagements and teams
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client management skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with data analytics tools in an audit context
- Sector-specific experience (e.g., manufacturing, public sector, financial services)
- Familiarity with audit software such as Caseware or AuditBoard
