Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Behavioral Psychology Intern to join our academic research team in Brossard, Quebec. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various stages of psychological research, from literature review and study design to data collection, analysis, and dissemination. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in behavioral psychology, a solid academic foundation, and a keen desire to learn and contribute to meaningful research. This is an entry-level position designed to provide comprehensive training and mentorship in an academic research setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior researchers with literature reviews and background research for new and ongoing projects.
- Support the design and development of research protocols, questionnaires, and experimental stimuli.
- Participate in data collection activities, which may include administering surveys, conducting interviews, or setting up experimental sessions.
- Assist with data entry, cleaning, and preliminary statistical analysis using relevant software (e.g., SPSS, R).
- Help prepare research materials, presentations, and reports.
- Contribute to the drafting of research papers and grant applications.
- Attend lab meetings, seminars, and workshops to enhance research skills and knowledge.
- Maintain accurate and organized research records and documentation.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Master's program in Psychology, Behavioral Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in behavioral psychology and academic research.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Foundational understanding of research methodologies and basic statistical concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with data collection or research assistance (even in an academic project setting).
- Familiarity with statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, R, Python for data analysis).
- Knowledge of ethical guidelines in human subjects research.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
