Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Brewery Operations Lead to join our dynamic team in Albury. This pivotal role will oversee the day-to-day brewing and packaging operations, ensuring the production of exceptional craft beer while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader, passionate about craft brewing, and adept at managing both people and processes. You will play a critical role in scaling our production, optimizing workflows, and upholding our commitment to brewing excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of brewing, cellaring, and packaging operations, from raw material receipt to finished product dispatch.
- Lead, mentor, and schedule the brewing team, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement production schedules to meet demand forecasts and inventory targets.
- Ensure strict adherence to quality control procedures, including sensory evaluation, lab analysis, and equipment sanitation.
- Manage inventory of raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished goods, coordinating with suppliers and sales teams.
- Troubleshoot operational issues, implement preventative maintenance programs, and ensure equipment reliability.
- Maintain accurate production records and contribute to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety, occupational health and safety, and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with the Head Brewer on recipe development, process improvements, and new product introductions.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a commercial brewing environment, specifically in a supervisory or lead role
- Strong understanding of brewing science, yeast management, fermentation, and cellaring processes
- Proficiency with brewing equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced production setting
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Solid understanding of quality control principles and HACCP
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 25kg) and stand for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Brewing Science, Food Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with automated brewing systems
- Forklift license
- Knowledge of packaging line operations (canning/kegging)
- Experience with inventory management software
