Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lifeguard Supervisor to join our team, overseeing the safety and operational efficiency of our regional council aquatic facilities. This pivotal role involves leading a team of lifeguards, ensuring adherence to the highest safety standards, and providing exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will be a proactive leader, proficient in emergency response, and dedicated to maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for all patrons.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and mentor a team of lifeguards, ensuring high performance and professional development.
- Develop and manage lifeguard rosters to ensure adequate coverage and operational efficiency.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of aquatic facilities, equipment, and water quality to meet compliance standards.
- Act as the primary responder to all aquatic emergencies, administering first aid, CPR, and coordinating with emergency services as required.
- Enforce facility rules and regulations consistently and professionally to ensure patron safety.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, training, and operational checks.
- Implement and review risk management strategies and emergency action plans.
- Provide clear and effective communication to both staff and patrons regarding safety procedures and facility updates.
- Assist with facility maintenance checks and report any issues promptly to management.
- Foster a positive team environment and promote continuous improvement in all aspects of aquatic safety.
Required Skills
- Current Pool Lifeguard Certificate (SISSS00112 or equivalent)
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate (HLTAID012 or equivalent)
- Current CPR Certificate (HLTAID009 or equivalent)
- Proven experience as a lifeguard, with demonstrated leadership capabilities
- Thorough understanding of aquatic safety regulations and best practices
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm, decisive, and effective in emergency situations
- Strong problem-solving and organisational abilities
- Proficiency in basic computer applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous supervisory or team leader experience in an aquatic environment
- Certificate IV in Pool Operations (or equivalent qualification)
- Experience with aquatic facility plant and equipment operations
- Current WA Working With Children Check
- Experience in conducting in-service training for lifeguards
