Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Category Manager to join our dynamic team in Plymouth. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing category strategies that drive sales, profit, and customer satisfaction. You will manage a specific product category, ensuring competitive pricing, optimal product assortment, and effective promotional activities. This hybrid role offers flexibility while maintaining a strong team presence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscapes.
  • Manage product assortment, pricing, promotions, and merchandising for the assigned category.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable terms, products, and promotional support.
  • Collaborate with marketing, supply chain, and retail operations teams to ensure seamless execution.
  • Monitor category performance, analyze sales data, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Identify and implement innovation opportunities within the category.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in category management, buying, or merchandising within a retail environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience with FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) categories.
  • Knowledge of supply chain principles.
  • Familiarity with retail specific software platforms.
