Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Public Health Intern to join our Community Outreach Program in Chippenham. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a keen interest in public health to gain hands-on experience in community engagement, program support, and data collection. You will play a vital role in supporting initiatives aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of local residents, working closely with experienced public health professionals. This internship is designed to provide comprehensive training and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of community health events and outreach activities.
  • Engage with community members to gather feedback, disseminate health information, and promote program participation.
  • Support the collection and organization of public health data for program evaluation and reporting.
  • Help develop and distribute educational materials on various health topics relevant to the community.
  • Provide administrative support to the Public Health team, including scheduling, record-keeping, and communication.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions for new initiatives.
  • Conduct literature reviews and research on specific public health issues as directed.

Required Skills

  • Strong interest in public health, community development, or social sciences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Enthusiastic and proactive attitude with a willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Public Health, Health Sciences, Sociology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Previous volunteer experience in a community setting.
  • Familiarity with local community resources in Wiltshire.
