Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Construction Defect Law Intern to join our litigation support team in Orlando. This internship offers an unparalleled opportunity to gain hands-on experience in construction law, specifically focusing on complex defect litigation. The intern will work closely with experienced attorneys and paralegals, assisting with various aspects of the litigation process, from initial case assessment to trial preparation. This is an excellent opportunity for a law student interested in a career in construction law or civil litigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research on construction law, building codes, and relevant case precedents.
  • Assist attorneys in drafting legal documents, including memos, pleadings, and discovery responses.
  • Organize and manage case files, evidence, and discovery materials.
  • Review and summarize depositions, expert reports, and other litigation documents.
  • Prepare exhibits and presentations for hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Support attorneys with trial preparation, including witness coordination and document management.
  • Attend client meetings, depositions, and court proceedings when appropriate.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited J.D. program.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated interest in construction law, real estate, or litigation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed coursework in property law, contracts, or civil procedure.
  • Experience with legal research platforms such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
  • Prior internship experience in a legal setting, particularly in litigation or real estate.
  • Strong academic record.
