Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Welder proficient in both TIG and MIG processes to join our manufacturing team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating and assembling metal components, ensuring high-quality welds, and adhering to strict safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities
- Perform TIG and MIG welding on various types of metals, including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, to produce high-quality assemblies.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols to determine appropriate welding techniques and specifications.
- Set up and operate welding equipment, including adjusting voltage, amperage, and gas flow for different materials and joint configurations.
- Inspect finished welds for defects, ensuring compliance with quality standards and specifications using visual inspection and basic measurement tools.
- Operate fabricating equipment such as grinders, drills, and saws as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety protocols and procedures.
- Collaborate with production team members and supervisors to optimize workflow and resolve technical issues.
- Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing process.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of professional TIG and MIG welding experience.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
- Strong knowledge of various welding techniques, materials, and their properties.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot welding equipment effectively.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS (American Welding Society) certification.
- Experience with robotic welding systems.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
- Vocational or technical school training in welding.
- Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
