Job Description

PCL Constructors Inc. is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Contracts Manager to join our dynamic team in Scarborough, Ontario. This pivotal role involves managing and administering all contractual aspects of our large-scale construction and technology integration projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in construction law, contract negotiation, and project management within a tech-forward construction environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and administer a wide range of contracts, including subcontracts, vendor agreements, and client contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on contractual matters to project teams, senior management, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage contract changes, variations, claims, and disputes, working towards timely and amicable resolutions.
  • Ensure all contractual obligations are met by both PCL Constructors Inc. and its partners/subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with legal, finance, and project teams to mitigate risks and protect the company's interests.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, legal developments, and best practices in contract management, particularly within the construction and technology sectors.
  • Develop and implement contract management procedures and systems to enhance efficiency and compliance.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in contract management, specifically within the construction or technology sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of contract law, commercial terms, and conditions.
  • Proven ability to draft, negotiate, and administer complex contracts.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Professional designation such as Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM) or equivalent.
  • Experience with Public-Private Partnership (P3) projects.
  • Familiarity with Canadian construction standards and regulations.
  • Experience in integrating technology solutions into construction processes.
