Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Council Property Officer to join our team, focusing on leasing and facility administration. This role is crucial for the effective management of the Council’s extensive property portfolio, ensuring optimal utilisation and compliance. You will be responsible for a wide range of administrative tasks related to property leasing, facility bookings, and general property management support. This position requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders including tenants, community groups, and internal departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administering lease agreements and licenses for Council-owned properties and facilities.
  • Coordinating facility bookings and managing booking systems.
  • Assisting with property inspections and condition reports.
  • Processing invoices and managing financial records related to property leases and facilities.
  • Responding to enquiries from tenants, licensees, and the public regarding Council properties.
  • Maintaining accurate property records and databases.
  • Preparing correspondence, reports, and other documentation as required.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of property management policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to ensure seamless facility operations and maintenance.
  • Undertaking general administrative duties to support the Property Services team.

Required Skills

  • Proven administrative experience, preferably within a property or local government context.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of basic property management principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate IV in Property Services, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with property management software systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations pertaining to property management in NSW.
  • Previous experience working within a local government environment.
