Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Court Bailiff / Security Officer to ensure the safety and security of the courthouse, judges, staff, and the public. This full-time, on-site position plays a crucial role in maintaining order during court proceedings, enforcing rules, and responding to security incidents. The ideal candidate will possess strong observational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to public service. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain order and decorum in courtrooms and public areas of the courthouse.
- Provide security for judges, court personnel, jurors, and visitors.
- Conduct security screenings of individuals entering court facilities.
- Escort prisoners and detainees within the courthouse premises.
- Respond to emergencies, disturbances, and security breaches promptly and effectively.
- Enforce courthouse policies, procedures, and rules.
- Monitor surveillance systems and conduct regular patrols.
- Assist with the safe transportation of sensitive documents or evidence as required.
- Prepare incident reports and maintain accurate security logs.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to maintain composure and professional demeanor under pressure.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent observation and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret and apply security policies and procedures.
- Physical capability to stand for extended periods, walk, and respond to emergencies.
- Proficiency in conflict de-escalation techniques.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field.
- Previous experience in law enforcement, military, or security services (2+ years preferred).
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Knowledge of court procedures and legal terminology.
