Job Description
Are you passionate about craft beer and looking to start your career in brewing? Otto’s Pub & Brewery is seeking a dedicated and energetic Craft Brewery Cellar Person to join our production team. This is an entry-level position perfect for individuals with no prior brewing experience who are eager to learn and grow in a dynamic environment. As a Cellar Person, you will be crucial to the quality and consistency of our beer. You’ll be involved in various aspects of beer production after fermentation, primarily focusing on sanitation, transfer, and packaging support. This role involves significant “wet work” – constant cleaning and sanitizing – and “heavy lifting,” requiring the ability to safely move materials and equipment. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize fermentation tanks, bright tanks, and other brewery equipment.
- Assist with beer transfers between tanks and preparing for packaging.
- Operate and maintain keg washing and filling equipment.
- Assist with packaging operations, including bottling, canning, and kegging.
- Perform routine quality checks, such as dissolved oxygen readings and gravity measurements (training provided).
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Assist with inventory management of cellar supplies.
- Perform general brewery maintenance and cleaning tasks.
Required Skills
- No prior brewing experience required – we provide full training!
- Ability to lift and move up to 55 lbs repeatedly and safely.
- Comfortable working in a wet, often cold, and sometimes noisy environment.
- Strong work ethic and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Willingness to learn and grow within the craft brewing industry.
- Reliable transportation to our State College facility.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- A genuine passion for craft beer.
- Basic mechanical aptitude or willingness to learn about brewery equipment.
