Job Description
Are you passionate about data and eager to kick-start your career in database administration? PwC is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Database Administrator to join our growing technology team in Exeter. This entry-level role is perfect for individuals with foundational IT knowledge and a strong desire to learn and develop expertise in managing and maintaining database systems. You will receive comprehensive training and mentorship, working alongside experienced professionals to support our critical data infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in monitoring database performance and integrity.
- Support the installation, configuration, and upgrading of database software.
- Help maintain database security, including user access and permissions.
- Participate in regular database backups and recovery procedures.
- Troubleshoot basic database issues under supervision.
- Document database configurations and procedures.
- Collaborate with application development teams to ensure database best practices.
- Learn and apply best practices for database administration.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle).
- Familiarity with SQL query language.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- A keen interest in data management and technology.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Any relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) is a plus.
