Job Description
Responsible for the safe and efficient movement and handling of chemical drums and barrels within a plant and warehouse setting. This heavy industrial role requires physical capability, strict adherence to safety protocols, and a willingness to be trained on industrial equipment and HAZMAT procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently move, roll, stack, and stage drums and barrels using appropriate equipment such as drum dollies, hand trucks, and pallet jacks.
- Load and unload chemical drums from trucks and containers, ensuring proper handling and securing methods are followed.
- Assist with inventory management by accurately tracking drum movements and placements within the facility.
- Inspect drums for damage or leaks and report any issues immediately to supervision.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in all designated areas.
- Strictly adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including HAZMAT guidelines.
- Participate in regular safety meetings and training sessions.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operational flow and meet daily targets.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, pushing, and rolling heavy drums (up to 500 lbs with assistance/equipment).
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and a willingness to learn and implement new safety procedures.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic written and verbal communication skills in English.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, industrial, or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with chemical handling or HAZMAT procedures.
- Forklift certification or experience operating similar material handling equipment.
