Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Dental Student Intern to join our dynamic team as a Paid Clinical Assistant. This invaluable internship offers a unique opportunity for dental students to gain hands-on experience in a professional clinical setting. You will work closely with our dentists and hygienists, learning practical skills, enhancing your understanding of dental procedures, and contributing to the smooth operation of our clinic. This role is designed for students eager to apply their academic knowledge and develop their clinical proficiency under expert supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist dentists and hygienists during a variety of dental procedures, including preventative, restorative, and surgical treatments.
- Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and manage inventory of dental supplies.
- Ensure patient comfort and provide clear post-operative instructions as directed by the supervising dentist.
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with scheduling appointments.
- Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and health and safety regulations.
- Participate in clinic meetings and continuous learning opportunities.
- Support the front desk operations as needed, including greeting patients and managing inquiries.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in an accredited dental degree program (e.g., DDS, DMD, BDS).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively in a team.
- Basic understanding of dental terminology and procedures.
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and professional ethics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of at least one year of a dental degree program.
- Prior volunteer experience in a healthcare setting.
- Basic First Aid certification.
