Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and physically capable individuals to join our team as Drydock / Shipyard Laborers. This is a demanding, hands-on role involving hard industrial work in a dynamic shipyard environment. You will be an essential part of our operations, supporting skilled trades and ensuring the efficiency and safety of shipbuilding and repair projects. This position offers excellent pay for individuals committed to rigorous work and contributing to vital national defense initiatives. Full training will be provided to ensure all safety protocols and job duties are understood.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general labor tasks in a shipyard or drydock setting, including cleaning, sweeping, pressure washing, and waste removal.
- Assist skilled trades (e.g., welders, electricians, pipefitters, carpenters) with material handling, tool fetching, and preparation of work areas.
- Operate various hand and power tools safely and efficiently as directed.
- Load, unload, and transport materials, equipment, and supplies manually or using basic mechanical aids.
- Erect and dismantle temporary structures, scaffolding, and barricades under supervision.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support shipyard operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform strenuous physical tasks for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions, confined spaces, and at heights.
- Strong work ethic and a commitment to safety.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Basic understanding of hand and power tools is a plus.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a heavy industrial, construction, manufacturing, or marine environment.
- Familiarity with shipyard operations or maritime safety protocols.
- Certification for operating forklifts, man-lifts, or other heavy equipment.
- Experience working in confined spaces or at elevated heights.
