Job Description

Kone Inc. is seeking motivated and dedicated individuals to join our team as an Elevator / Escalator Mechanic in Sydney, Nova Scotia. As an Elevator / Escalator Mechanic, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and modernization of various elevator and escalator systems. Full training will be provided to ensure you are equipped with the expertise required to excel in this critical role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on elevator and escalator equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, performing repairs and replacements of components as needed.
  • Install new elevator and escalator systems in accordance with blueprints, specifications, and safety codes.
  • Modernize existing equipment to improve performance, safety, and energy efficiency.
  • Respond to service calls and emergency situations promptly and effectively.
  • Document all work performed, including repairs, inspections, and parts used.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as industry regulations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of parts and tools required for service.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional communication.

Required Skills

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance role.
  • Completion of a recognized technical trade program (e.g., electrician, millwright, automotive technician).
