Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity for highly motivated individuals looking to start a rewarding career in logistics with Sobeys Inc. No prior experience is required, as we offer comprehensive, fully funded training to help you obtain your forklift operating license. As a Trainee Forklift Driver, you will be an integral part of our warehouse team, responsible for safely and efficiently moving goods, ensuring smooth operations within our distribution centre in Corner Brook. Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively and successfully complete all provided forklift operation training and safety courses.
- Safely operate various types of forklifts (once licensed and certified) to move, stack, and retrieve products and materials within the warehouse.
- Load and unload trucks, ensuring proper handling, scanning, and secure storage of goods.
- Perform daily pre-operation equipment checks and report any malfunctions, damage, or maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area within the warehouse, adhering to 5S principles.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as provincial and federal regulatory requirements.
- Assist with inventory management tasks, including counting, locating, and preparing orders for shipment.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to achieve operational goals and maintain workflow efficiency.
Required Skills
- Ability to learn quickly and adhere strictly to all safety protocols and operating procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all tasks.
- Good physical stamina, capable of standing for long periods, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and performing repetitive tasks.
- Reliable, punctual, and possessing a strong work ethic with a positive attitude.
- Basic communication skills (ability to read, understand, and follow instructions, and communicate effectively in English).
- Eagerness to acquire new skills and commit to obtaining a forklift certification.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent education.
- Previous experience working in a warehouse, manufacturing, or similar fast-paced production environment.
- Basic familiarity with inventory management systems or warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented setting.
