Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Impact Research Assistant to join our team in Shreveport, LA. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about environmental science and sustainability to contribute to impactful projects. The role involves a balanced mix of office-based research, data analysis, report preparation, and hands-on fieldwork, including site assessments, sample collection, and monitoring activities. You will work under the guidance of experienced environmental scientists and engineers, gaining valuable experience across various environmental disciplines. Full training will be provided to ensure success in both office and field tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior staff with environmental data collection in the field, including soil, water, and air sampling.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to gather relevant information for environmental assessments.
  • Perform laboratory preparation and basic analysis of environmental samples.
  • Enter, organize, and manage environmental data using various software and databases.
  • Research regulatory requirements and environmental best practices for ongoing projects.
  • Prepare sections of technical reports, presentations, and permitting applications.
  • Maintain field equipment and ensure compliance with safety protocols during fieldwork.
  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding project status and findings.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Geology, Hydrology, or related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to travel locally for field assignments (valid driver's license required).
  • Physical ability to perform fieldwork in various weather conditions and terrains.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS).
  • Basic understanding of environmental regulations (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA, CWA).
  • Experience with data visualization and statistical analysis tools.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (or willingness to obtain).
