Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart a rewarding career in the rapidly expanding electric vehicle industry? Gridserve is offering an exceptional apprenticeship opportunity for an EV Charging Station Installer. This entry-level role is perfect for enthusiastic individuals with no prior experience in electrical installation who are eager to learn and develop practical skills. You will receive comprehensive training, mentorship from experienced professionals, and gain hands-on experience installing and maintaining our state-of-the-art EV charging points across the Devonport and wider Plymouth area. A company van will be provided to support your daily travel to sites. This is a high-demand role critical to the future of sustainable transportation.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn and assist in the installation of EV charging stations, following safety protocols and quality standards.
- Help with site preparation, including minor civil works and cable management under supervision.
- Conduct pre-installation checks and post-installation testing of equipment.
- Assist with routine maintenance, fault finding, and repair of existing charging infrastructure.
- Accurately complete paperwork and digital records related to installations and maintenance.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, including the company van.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Engage with customers and property owners in a professional and courteous manner.
Required Skills
- A strong willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
- Excellent work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively within a team.
- Basic understanding of tools and practical aptitude (e.g., from hobbies or school projects).
- A full, clean UK driving license (essential for operating the company van).
- Good problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
- Any prior experience in a practical, hands-on, or customer service role.
- Basic knowledge or interest in electric vehicles or renewable energy.
