Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart your career in the construction industry with a reputable company? Hanson Australia is seeking enthusiastic and safety-conscious individuals to join our team as an Excavator Spotter. This is a part-time, day work position based in Wyong, NSW, offering comprehensive training, so no prior experience is necessary. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe operation of excavation equipment, working closely with our skilled operators to maintain a secure work environment. This is an excellent opportunity to learn valuable skills, contribute to significant projects, and grow within the industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a primary visual aid to excavator operators, guiding them safely within designated work zones.
- Communicate effectively with operators using established hand signals, radio, or other agreed-upon methods.
- Monitor the immediate work area for potential hazards, including other personnel, utilities, and unstable ground conditions.
- Assist with site setup and shutdown procedures, ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
- Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Report any observed safety concerns or incidents promptly to supervision.
Required Skills
- Strong commitment to safety procedures and a willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good spatial awareness and attention to detail.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Physical fitness to perform duties in an outdoor construction environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Construction Induction Card (White Card – mandatory for site access, but can be obtained with training support).
- Basic understanding of construction site safety (training will be provided).
