Job Description

Join Marand Precision Engineering as a Welding & Fabrication Engineering Intern and gain invaluable hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This internship offers a unique opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world projects, working alongside experienced engineers and skilled tradespeople on cutting-edge fabrication and welding processes. You will contribute to the design, development, and improvement of manufacturing processes for high-precision components, learning from industry leaders in a supportive team setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist engineering team in the design and analysis of weldments and fabricated structures.
  • Support the development and optimization of welding procedures (MIG, TIG, etc.) and fabrication techniques.
  • Participate in quality control inspections and testing of welded components.
  • Help troubleshoot manufacturing issues related to welding and fabrication processes.
  • Contribute to the documentation of engineering processes, specifications, and reports.
  • Learn and adhere to all safety protocols and quality standards in the workshop environment.
  • Conduct research on new welding technologies and materials to support innovation initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of welding principles and metallurgy.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and take initiative.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with workshop tools or practical projects involving fabrication.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and their application in manufacturing.
  • Experience with FEA software or simulation tools for structural analysis.
  • Familiarity with Australian manufacturing standards and codes.
