Job Description
Morrisons is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Butcher / Meat Cutter to join our dedicated team in Cambridge. This is a unique opportunity for talented individuals looking to relocate to the UK via the Skilled Worker Visa route. As an integral part of our Market Street team, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting a wide range of fresh meat products to the highest standards, ensuring exceptional quality and customer satisfaction. We are looking for someone with proven expertise in all aspects of butchery, from carcass breakdown to specialty cuts, who can uphold our commitment to freshness and craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform skilled butchery tasks including breaking down carcasses, boning, trimming, and portioning various meats (beef, lamb, pork, poultry).
- Prepare and display a full range of fresh meat products for retail sale, ensuring attractive presentation.
- Advise customers on meat selections, cooking methods, and product information, providing excellent customer service.
- Maintain the highest standards of hygiene and food safety in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements.
- Manage stock rotation, minimize waste, and ensure proper storage of all meat products.
- Operate and maintain butchery equipment safely and efficiently.
- Assist with inventory management and order placement as required.
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and company procedures.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a professional butcher or meat cutter.
- Proficiency in all traditional and modern butchery techniques.
- Strong understanding of meat cuts, quality, and preparation.
- Excellent knife skills and ability to operate butchery equipment safely.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations (HACCP, EHO standards).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Eligibility to obtain a UK Skilled Worker Visa (sponsorship will be considered for suitable candidates).
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Butchery or equivalent professional qualification.
- Experience in a supermarket or high-volume retail butchery setting.
- Multilingual abilities are a plus.
- Previous experience advising customers on meat preparation and selection.
